Root Canals

Root Canal Therapy

What Is Root Canal Therapy?

Root canal therapy is a procedure used to save a tooth when the inside (the pulp) becomes infected or inflamed. Instead of removing the tooth, the infected tissue is cleaned out, the inside is sealed, and the tooth is restored with a crown to keep it strong and functional.

Why Would You Need a Root Canal?

A root canal may be recommended if you have:

  • Severe tooth pain, especially when chewing or biting
  • Sensitivity to hot or cold that lingers
  • Swelling or tenderness around the gums
  • Deep decay or a crack that has reached the tooth’s pulp
  • An abscess (infection) at the root of the tooth

Benefits of Root Canal Therapy

  • Saves your natural tooth – prevents the need for extraction
  • Relieves pain caused by infection or inflammation
  • Restores function – allows you to bite and chew normally
  • Prevents further infection that could spread to other areas

The Root Canal Process

  1. Examination & Diagnosis
We’ll take X-rays and perform tests to confirm whether a root canal is needed.
  2. Comfort & Sedation Options
The area is fully numbed, and sedation options are available to ensure you’re comfortable throughout the procedure.
  3. Cleaning the Tooth
The infected pulp is carefully removed, and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and disinfected.
  4. Sealing & Restoration
The tooth is filled and sealed, and in most cases, a crown is placed to strengthen and protect it long-term.

Aftercare and Recovery

Most patients return to normal activities the next day. Mild soreness is common for a few days, but it can usually be managed with over-the-counter medication. Good oral hygiene and regular checkups help ensure your treated tooth lasts many years.
