Crowns & Bridges

Crowns & Bridges
What Are Crowns and Bridges?
Crowns and bridges are common dental restorations used to repair or replace damaged or missing teeth.
- Crowns (sometimes called “caps”) cover and protect a tooth that is weakened, cracked, or heavily filled.
- Bridges replace one or more missing teeth by anchoring artificial teeth to the natural teeth or implants next to the gap.
Why Might You Need a Crown or Bridge?
- Restore strength to a weakened or broken tooth
- Improve appearance of a discolored or misshapen tooth
- Replace missing teeth for a full, healthy smile
- Prevent shifting – bridges keep surrounding teeth from moving out of place
- Support long-term oral health – restoring your bite helps protect your jaw and other teeth
The Process
-
Evaluation & Preparation
We examine the tooth, take X-rays if needed, and prepare it by shaping it slightly to fit the crown. For a bridge, the teeth next to the gap are prepared. -
Impressions
A digital scan or impression is taken to create a custom crown or bridge that fits your bite precisely. -
Temporary Crown/Bridge
While your permanent restoration is being made, a temporary one is placed for protection and comfort. -
Final Placement
Once your crown or bridge is ready, it’s securely bonded in place, restoring function and appearance.
